Type of Permit/Hire Required *

A General Film/Photography Permit allows you general access to all of the areas of Montsalvat that happen to be available during the booked timeframe, and gives you permissions to capture and publish content recorded on the property. Exclusive Hire grants you private use of a particular venue, and guarantees you sole and exclusive use of that space. Where Exclusive Hire is not obtained, all areas, venues and spaces must be shared amicably with the general public and other visitors. No areas or venues may be closed, blocked or obstructed at any time unless Exclusive Hire is obtained. For the purpose of film and photography bookings, Exclusive Hire cannot be obtained independently, and can only be obtained in conjunction with a General Permit. Sensitive Content Disclosure *

Montsalvat is a family friendly arts, events and functions venue which is also open to the public for general visitation. Certain activities, portrayals or visuals that may be deemed sensitive need to be carefully scheduled to avoid clashes, offence or disturbance. Failure to notify Montsalvat staff of potentially sensitive content, activities or portrayals prior to the beginning of your booked session may result in the immediate termination of your booking.

Do you plan on using a drone? *

Drones can be used under strict guidelines only, and only with prior approval by Montsalvat staff. Drones can only be used for exterior shots; drones are NOT permitted for interior shots. A qualified operator is required. Please see CASA website for more information about general operation requirements and restrictions.

Do you plan on using a smoke or haze machine? *

If you require the use of smoke or haze machines, or any kind of open flame, we require a minimum of two weeks' notice prior to your shoot to organize the isolation of the smoke alarms inside the booked venue. A service fee may apply.

Power is available only in some areas of Montsalvat. Power is limited - for projects that require larger amounts of power, a generator is recommended.

Movement of Artwork and Furniture *

The movement of any artworks or furniture is strictly prohibited except with express approval and direct handling by Montsalvat staff. This must be approved prior to the beginning of your booking. The artwork, furniture and the buildings themselves are all Heritage - nothing may be moved or changed. Nothing may be nailed, glued, taped or otherwise adhered to any wall, floor, ceiling or other surface of any kind.

Montsalvat does not allow BYO alcohol. External catering is permitted for bookings over 4-hours in length.

Supply of a Photographer/Videographer *

Montsalvat is a venue only, and any bookings made through us for the hire of a space, or for a general film or photography permit do not include the hire of a photographer. You must supply your own photographer.
