The State of the Birrarung (Yarra) and Its Parklands 2023 Report has been tabled in the Parliament of Victoria. Dr Scott Rawlings, Director Science and Reporting for the Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability will present a considered analysis of the available science and the pressures and challenges ahead for our much-loved and central artery of Melbourne.

Scott will tell the story of the health of the Birrarung and its parklands at a time of unprecedented population growth. This is Victoria’s five-yearly report card on the environmental condition of the Yarra River corridor and is prepared as part of a holistic approach to ‘keep the Birrarung alive’ created through the Yarra River Protection (Wilip-gin Birrarung murron) Act 2017.
