EXHIBITION: Matthew Clarke - Portraits and Wallabies

Matthew Clarke's artistic journey began in Warrnambool, under the mentorship of Glenn Morgan and Barry Tate from South West TAFE. Matthew has spread to multiple solo shows in Ballarat, Melbourne and Perth; group shows in Sydney, Paris, New York and Poland; the finalists of eighteen major art awards; and his art rumbling through the centre of the CBD of Melbourne, affixed to the exterior of Melbourne's iconic trams as part of the Art Trams initiative.

Matthew paints in his studio at Factory Arts in the old Fletcher Jones building In Warrnambool. An artist with disability, he has worked through setbacks to achieve his impressive resume and to foster his unique style, with an innate talent for finding a fine point of balance and harmony from the riot of colours, shapes and textures in his compositions. His subjects remain the people, animals and landmarks close to him. From portraits of his friends and families to scenes of the wallabies that visit his garden in Kirkstall. Matthew is now proud to be showing at the Barn Gallery in Montsalvat.
