ARTIST STATEMENT

“This body of work depicts a time where I reflected back to where I had been on this journey (road) called life. My question to myself was “Where did you go?” a part of me forgotten (that was constantly put on the back burner).

From this point on, my paintings started to depict the unravelling of experiences, emotions, thoughts (busy mind) or clarity. Some works are an expression of a particular time and some revealed their meaning/essence much later; needless to say, this is a story which has elements of similarities that we may all experience throughout our lives. When the viewer stands in front of one or more of the images, I hope it talks to them, instills joy and stirs an understanding of the many levels that makes up this human existence and the beauty of transformation.” - Mary Caia
