Montsalvat is proud to welcome the Margie Lou Dyer Qunitet.

Her gravelly, astonishingly expressive voice is reminiscent of the best women of early jazz, like Bessie Smith or Billie Holiday. Her blues-tinged, heavy grooving, New Orleans-style piano playing is unique in Melbourne.

Featuring talented musicians Margie Lou Dyer on piano and vocals, Eugene Ball on trumpet, Cameron Robbins on clarinet, Howard Cairns on bass and Hayley Miro Browne on washboard.

The January concert promises to be a magical experience and a fitting start to the 2023 jazz series which will follow on the last Sunday of every month until June. All proceeds from the concert, after payment of the musicians, will go to the restoration of Lily’s Cottage, one of the original Montsalvat buildings.
