TED VINING | A TRIBUTE TO BRIAN BROWN
'SCALING THE HILLTOP'
The Brian Brown Quartet of the 1970’s - Brian saxophones/flutes, Bob Sedergreen piano/keys, Barry Buckley acoustic bass and Ted Vining drums, quickly established itself as a significant voice on the Australian contemporary Jazz scene. They performed many times at Montsalvat, as well as all over Australia before breaking up in 1979.
Honouring them this evening will be superb pianist and long time friend Dr Tony Gould as compere.
The players - Mal Sedergreen on saxophone, Bob Sedergreen on piano, Gareth Hill on bass and Ted Vining on drums - will re-live many of Brian and Bob’s compositions.
It may sound a little different to the “old days” but, that’s what Jazz is all about, isn’t it ?
