Group Exhibition | In Liminal Spaces

In Liminal Spaces

As a group of multimedia artists, we want to explore what it means to be suspended in time, in that space in between, when things to come have not yet arrived, and the things of the past are drawing to a close. How do we live in the liminal, between both sides of the boundary? How do we sit with the uncertainty of being older women, immigrants, mothers, and partners? How do you redefine yourself yet again? How do you live with the discomfort of change? When your kids have flown the coop and your partner has left, or your career has changed dramatically.
As immigrants, this living between two worlds is a daily lived experience: a battle of belonging. As mothers, it takes the form of living torn between loved ones, duties, and dreams. A constant letting go and claiming back. And as partners, it sits within the process of discovery, of learning to love afresh.

The duality of grief and change, the waiting process, that quiet before the dawn will all be part of the exploration process. The artwork will therapeutically play with these concepts to become a journey of discovery as each artist will aim to create their unique interpretation of what this liminal space looks like.
