An exhibition of life drawings created in sessions led by the artist at Montsalvat in 2018.
This exhibition celebrates the practice of life drawing; the process of discovery, the rhythmic discipline and deep searching. For this artist the process of drawing is akin to breathing. These works explore what it is to be human, and greater questions of mortality itself.
This is an exhibition of the original drawings, iterations and more developed works.
Artist Biography:
Katie Roberts is an Australian artist working in Melbourne. She creates everything from large-scale works on paper to projection installations.
Since finishing my Masters of Fine Art in 2006 on the topic of Light as a Medium, Katie has been engaged in a ongoing body of work re-mapping the Yarra River (Birrarung), its history and environment. She aims to make work that includes and acknowledges the hidden histories still present on the land. Often her work is about the human relationship to the environment; usually it is beautiful and meaningful.
Exhibition Opening: Thursday 29th August 6.30-8.30
Light refreshments provided.
All welcome.
