EXHIBITION: Julie Bradley (CANCELLED)

In light of continuing policy statements and advice from both Federal and State Governments, Montsalvat have made the decision to cancel this exhibition by Julie Bradley due to public health concerns with the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Our artists’ and patrons' health and wellbeing are of paramount importance to Montsalvat therefore we are taking the necessary precautions to protect the wellbeing of our community, which is our number one priority.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the cancellation.

Julie Bradley uses her personal responses to the places she visits and the place where she lives as a starting point for her images, distilling these experiences of the land to create emotional landscapes –memories and emotions made visible.

Working with collaged Japanese papers, gouache washes and line, Bradley plays with illusions of space and the formal elements of the image, creating multilayered artworks.

While these works reference actual places Bradley has experienced, the work remains abstracted and holds the essence of the landscape. Each work could be interpreted as both vast open spaces or tiny microcosms. They reflect the artist’s abiding love of composition and colour.
