EXHIBITION: Alexis Winter - 12x12

ARTIST STATEMENT

“During 2020 I set myself the creative challenge of experimenting with 12 artistic mediums in 12 months. I’m a compulsive creator, but I have a tendency to gravitate towards the same mediums. The focus of this challenge has been to break away from my artistic habits and expand my skillset. The goal being experimentation and exploration rather than mastery.

Over the course of the year, I created over 200 different experiments, exploring: animation loops, posca paint pens, air drying clay, acrylic on canvas, coloured pencils, digital illustrations, collage, crayons, ballpoint pens, mixed media, assorted pens and printmaking. This exhibition is a collection of some of my favourite pieces from these experiments, each teaching me something new about myself and my creative practice.

To see the full collection of experiments, follow the AW12x12 hashtag on Instagram.” - Alexis Winter
