Kannar–Lichtenberger is an environmental artist examining visual narratives through her recent residency onboard the Schmidt Ocean Institutes research vessel, the Falkor. This exhibition explores the technology that creates maps of underwater landscapes, bringing to light a hidden terrain that, without this examination, would remain obscured from our view.
Lea Kannar-Lichtenberger is an artist/traveller observer with an interdisciplinary vision to develop artworks and installations that examine the impact of the Anthropocene and consumerism on the Utopian destination. Her eco-critical creativity embraces various mediums, from the traditional to new media and installations. Lea's artworks have been exhibited in Australia and internationally in group and solo exhibitions, receiving invitations to speak about her research at conferences globally. Lea was invited to speak at ‘The Royal Society of NSW’ about how science benefits from collaborating with artists. She completed her Master of Contemporary Art (2014) and Master of Fine Art (2016) at Sydney College of the Arts University of Sydney.
