Join the Brown & Breen Piano Duo and renowned jazz pianist Joe Chindamo for an unforgettable classical – jazz fusion performance on May 12th at Montsalvat! The concert begins with the world premiere of Chindamo’s exciting new work for two pianos, Urban Episodes, and is followed by Leonard Bernstein’s virtuosic masterpiece Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. After interval, join Chindamo as he is inspired by the melodies you heard in West Side Story just moments before, and improvises live on stage. A thrilling performance not to be missed!

The Brown & Breen Piano Duo

Described as "...two superlative musicians" (The Australian, 12/2016), The Brown & Breen Piano Duo formed in 2011 and after over 10 years of artistic activity are today considered one of Australia's most prominent piano duos. Their tours include France, North America and Australia, in venues such the Sydney Opera House, The Melbourne Recital Centre, Ukaria Cultural Centre, at the invitation of the Ambassadors in The Australian Embassies in Paris and Washington D.C., Symphony Space on Broadway, New York, Steinert Hall, Boston, the Cité International des Arts, Paris, many venues in regional France and regional Australia (including Victoria, NSW and S.A.).

 

Joe Chindamo

Joe Chindamo is a musical polyglot whose art defies classification. While forging an international career as a brilliant jazz pianist – producing 23 CDs, topping the jazz charts in Japan, winning a slew of awards (including being inducted into the Bell Award Hall of Fame in 2016) and touring the world with the genre’s leading figures- he was working as first- call pianist on over 60 film soundtracks and performing & recording with a plethora of leading artists from the worlds of opera, jazz, theatre and pop.

More recently Chindamo has emerged as a coveted new voice in contemporary classical composition, receiving numerous commissions from Australia’s leading soloists, chamber groups and symphony orchestras, including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian String Quartet, Camerata and the Melbourne and Queensland Symphony Orchestras.
